The Honeypot Children-s Charity is the only national charity providing consistent, tailored support to young carers aged 5-12. In Scotland, an estimated 30,000 children take on caring responsibilities at home-often for parents with long-term illnesses or siblings with complex disabilities. These children can spend up to 50 hours a week on tasks like cooking, cleaning, and providing emotional support, missing out on play, friendships, and education. Research shows that 30% struggle to concentrate at school, and 27% report being bullied, highlighting the urgent need for early intervention.

Since opening our Scottish Honeypot House in Dalleagles, Ayrshire in 2023, we-ve proudly supported over 500 young carers from across Scotland. Honeypot Scotland-s programme is designed to reduce isolation, anxiety, and educational disadvantage, while building confidence, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.

Young carers have enjoyed a wide range of enriching activities at our Dalleagles House - with highlights including baking, arts and crafts, movie nights, and days out to local sites and attractions. These experiences give children the chance to relax, make friends, and simply enjoy being young in a safe, supportive environment.
